crawford notch state park

recorded september 15 & 17, 2016

crawford notch state park is located on u.s. highway 302, in northern new hampshire, between bretton woods and bartlett. the park occupies the center of crawford notch, a major pass through the white mountains. crawford notch is the steep and narrow gorge of the saco river. during my drive through the park i make a stop at the willey house, formerly a small inn and residence in crawford notch, is the site of a landslide that claimed nine lives in august of 1826. though the surrounding area was strewn with boulders and debris, the willey house stood unharmed. the family however, perished in the landslide, becoming part of the legend of willey house. surrounded by the the panorama of crawford notch. i also make stops at silver cascade, mount washington hotel and the bartlett covered bridge.
